Council invites you to have your say on a draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) prepared for the land at 25 South Parade, Auburn (the subject site). The land subject to the draft VPA is shown below:

About the Draft VPA
The draft VPA is related to a proponent-initiated Planning Proposal (PP2022/0004) which seeks to amend Schedule 1 of Cumberland Local Environmental 2021 to permit office premises and a medical centre as additional permitted uses (APUs) at 25 South Parade, Auburn. It is intended that the amendment will permit future development of the site to facilitate medical centre and office uses. The Planning Proposal also seeks to introduce a maximum building height of 11m on the site for these uses.
The Planning Proposal received a Council resolution to progress subject to entering into a Voluntary Planning Agreement and has been issued with a Gateway determination by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
The proponent has submitted a revised Letter of Offer to Council to enter into a VPA. The draft VPA will seek from the proponent a monetary contribution to Council to be used towards a public benefit in the form of future public domain improvements within the Auburn Town Centre. Council officers have undertaken an assessment of the revised Letter of Offer and consider it to be consistent with the Cumberland Planning Agreements Policy and Guideline.
Council at its meeting on 17th July 2024 resolved to publicly exhibit the draft VPA document for the site. Refer to document library to view a copy of the draft VPA, Council report, minutes and supporting information.

During this community consultation period, residents were encouraged to view or download a copy of the draft VPA and supporting documentation for review from the document library on this page.
The draft VPA and supporting documentation were also available in hardcopy form at:
- Auburn Customer Service Centre, 1 Susan Street, Auburn.
- Merrylands Customer Service Centre and Library, 16 Memorial Avenue, Merrylands.
The consultation period ran from Wednesday 24 July to Wednesday 21 August 2024. During this community consultation period, residents were encouraged to submit their comments on the draft proposal. Anyone who wished to provide feedback on the proposal were to do so in writing by 11.30pm Wednesday 21 August 2024.
