August 2024 update
Consultation has closed on the Guildford Pool Modernisation Project, and submissions are now being reviewed. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.
July 2024 consultation
Guildford Swim Centre is undergoing an exciting transformation to deliver a new state-of-the-art Aquatic Centre for the local community.
The redevelopment will provide a range of new facilities including an indoor program pool and outdoor pool.
These new facilities will provide for a range of age groups and participation levels through services and programs including learn to swim, recreational swimming, gentle aquatic-based exercise and rehabilitation.
Community Benefits
The pool modernisation will provide a range of benefits for the local community, which include:
- Increase in regional income generated by the project is $8.3 million ($6.7million direct and $1.6 million indirect/induced)
- Annual regional income arising from the upgraded Centre would be an average of $1.669 million per year higher when all direct and indirect impacts are taken into account
- Provide a range of aquatic, health and fitness opportunities that will support the current and future population growth and range of ages groups within the community
- Facilities will enable greater participation to assist in fostering porting excellence for the future, and strengthening the sport and recreation industry by enabling and providing facilities that will support lifelong participation
- Other qualitative measured benefits such as physical and mental health, social in terms of skills, team participation and social connectedness, reduced isolation and education benefits
- Project will generate a total of 23.3 direct jobs (FTE) during the construction period, which will comprise of 16.8 onsite construction jobs; 2.7 professional jobs and 3.8 jobs in the materials and equipment supply sectors
- Increase in regional income generated by the project is $8.3 million ($6.7million direct and $1.6 million indirect/induced)
- Operations of the Centre will account for an average of 13.6 FTE jobs per year (11.4 direct employees onsite and 2.2 indirect/induced jobs in the region)
- Spending in the region by regular centre users and visitors generates is expected to average 4.4 FTE jobs (3.8 direct jobs, with a further 0.6 indirect/induced jobs in the region).
- Events would generate an average of 4.1 FTE jobs (3.6 direct jobs, with a further 0.5 indirect/induced jobs in the region).
