May 2024 Update
The Cumberland Local Shops Study was reported to Cumberland City Council’s ordinary meeting on Wednesday, 1 May 2024. At the meeting, Council resolved to adopt the Study. The adopted Cumberland Local Shops Study can be found in the document library. The Minutes from the Council Meeting are available via Council’s website.
April 2024 Update
The Cumberland Local Shops Study has completed the necessary updates, and will be reported to Cumberland City Council’s Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday, 1 May 2024 for Finalisation.
The Council Meeting will commence at 6.30pm, and will be held at the Council Chambers, 16 Memorial Ave, Merrylands. The meeting will be live streamed on Council’s website from 6.30pm.
Council Meeting agenda and business papers will be available via Council’s website for viewing late this week, and can be found on Council’s website here: http://www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/council-meetings
Persons wishing to address Council in relation to an item on the agenda must register by completing the registration form and emailing it to governance@cumberland.nsw.gov.au by 5pm the day before the meeting. In order to receive a response from Council in relation to the matter raised, contact details must be provided. Consultation on the Local Shop Study has closed, and submissions are now being reviewed. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.

The draft Cumberland Local Shops Study explores how we can understand, protect and enhance our local shops to meet the needs of the community now and in the future.
Tell us your thoughts on the draft Cumberland Local Shops Study. The draft Study outlines:
- what is happening at our local shops today
- how we can continue to create inviting and vibrant local shops now and in the future
- opportunities for improvements by Council, such as public domain upgrades and potential refinements to planning controls at some locations
