July 2023 consultation:
Sport is an important part of Cumberland’s community. Council is committed to facilitating a range of sporting opportunities by providing a range of high-quality sports facilities across the Cumberland Local Government Area. As part of this commitment, Council is in the process of developing the Sports Surface Plan.
The Sports Surface Plan will provide a strategic framework and evidence-based approach for the planning of our diverse sport surfaces and will consider a range of inputs including but not limited to:
- Industry trends and best practice.
- Our current network of playing fields and courts.
- Sport participation and utilisation rates.
- Existing and projected population.
- Climate including extreme weather conditions.
- Community and stakeholder engagement findings.
- Resource implications and capacity to deliver recommendations.
Now we want your feedback!
Council values the opinions and suggestions of the community, and would appreciate your thoughts on Cumberland's sporting facilities to help inform the Sports Surfaces Plan.
During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to complete the survey about how they currently use sporting facilities and what they would like to see in the upcoming plan. Submissions are open until 5pm Monday 14 August 2023.
