The synthetic fields are scheduled for completion in late August 2026. The two natural turf fields (Fields 1 & 3) will not be available for use until January 2027.
This extended establishment period is necessary to allow the turf to fully develop and ensure the playing surfaces are of an appropriate quality and durability for long-term use.
Cumberland Council is currently upgrading the facilities at Progress Park, this facility will be closed to the general public and sporting groups as works commenced on Monday 1 September 2025. A new soccer field will be constructed. Fields 1 and 2 will undergo reconstruction with new LED floodlighting, a modern central controlled irrigation system and field drainage. Works will be completed mid 2026.
Cumberland City will commence work on the Progress Park Synthetic Field Kibo Reserve Playground Upgrade Project on Monday 1 September 2025. Work is expected to be completed in late July 2026, weather permitting. The upgrade works will include the installation of a new synthetic field and the reconstruction of two other soccer fields and landscaping. POLYTAN Pty Ltd has been contracted by Cumberland City Council as the Principal Contractor to undertake the Park upgrade works on behalf of Council....

Cumberland is proposing the removal of the old play equipment at Progress Park Auburn as it has come to the end of its serviceable life. Council has already built a playspace closer to Killeen Street in 2018, which serves as a replacement.
The equipment will be removed and the area will be re-turfed. Works are expected to commence mid-late 2022, weather permitting.
