Previous consultation period:

In June 2022, Cumberland City Council sought feedback on improvements to the playspace and picnic area within Phillips Park. Consultation has closed on the Phillips Park Improvements, and submissions have been reviewed. Feedback received also provided insight into the current use and aspirations for all of Phillips Park.

A summary of key themes identified during this engagement were:

  • Sense of community
  • Value the open and green space
  • Desire for continued use or improved sporting facilities
  • Need for upgrades to play area and paths

Other key findings from the survey include:

  • 88% of respondents said they use Phillips Park weekly
  • 59% visited with children, 56% said they visited with friends and 46% said they liked to visit Phillips Park alone
  • Informal Exercise was the most popular activity, with 81% of respondents using the park for this purpose. Relaxation was the next most popular response, with 67% of respondents indicating they come to Phillips Park for this reason.

These findings have helped to inform the current Masterplan for Phillips Park.
