August 2024 Update
The Merrylands Town Centre – Draft Development Control Plan was endorsed by Council at the Ordinary Council meeting on 21 August 2024. Council minutes are available via Council’s website for reviewing and can be found here.
August 2024 Council Meeting
The Merrylands Town Centre - Development Control Plan will be reported to the Ordinary Council Meeting for consideration on Wednesday 21 August 2024.

If you wish to address Council regarding the Merrylands Town Centre - Development Control Plan, you must first complete a Request to Address Council form and provide the completed form to Council’s Governance team by 5pm Tuesday 20 August 2024.

December 2023 Update
Consultation on the Merrylands Town Centre Draft Development Control Plan has closed, and submissions are now being reviewed. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.
November 2023 Consultation
About the proposal
Merrylands Town Centre is considered one of Cumberland’s key town centres, providing diverse housing options, jobs and a strong commercial precinct.
Minor changes have been identified to the Cumberland Development Control Plan for sites in Merrylands under the following chapters:
- Part F2-8 Merrylands Station and Mcfarlane Street Precinct
- Part F2-9 Merrylands Station Precinct (East)
The proposed amendments will ensure consistency with Council’s position on the closure of Finns Lane, Merrylands, and planning controls for the area east of Merrylands Station. See the map below, or to view a larger version, see the Image Gallery.

Council values the opinions and suggestions of the community and would appreciate your input on the Draft Amendments to Cumberland Development Control Plan for Merrylands Town Centre.
During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to view or download a copy of the Business Site-Specific Development Control Plans for review from the document library on this page.
The documents are also available in hardcopy form at:
- Auburn Customer Service Centre, 1 Susan Street, Auburn.
- Merrylands Customer Service Centre, 16 Memorial Avenue, Merrylands.
The consultation period runs from Monday 6 November 2023 to Wednesday 6 December 2023. During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to submit their comments on the proposal. Anyone who wishes to provide feedback on the proposal must do so in writing by 5pm Wednesday 6 December 2023.
