The last remaining piece of infrastructure upgrade work to be completed is the construction of a new major stormwater culvert under Addlestone Rd near the intersection with Merrylands Road. This is large and complex work requiring upgrade to water main and relocation of underground utilities/services. With approval from Sydney Water finally granted, this work is about to commence.
The key points to note about this upcoming work are as follows:
- Works will take up to 6 months to complete, currently planned to be carried out from 28 August to March 2024 (subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances)
- Addlestone Rd will be closed the whole time at the intersection with Merrylands Rd.
- One westbound lane of Merrylands Rd will be closed for the first 10 weeks (August – mid October).
- Access to shops will be kept open at all times.
- Pedestrian access will be provided around the site at all times.
- Access to Addlestone Rd carpark (behind Oporto) will be kept open at all times.
- Bus detour and bus stop relocations along Addlestone Rd will be required. Work has already started to liaise with relevant transport companies and authorities to arrange temporary bus stops
- Emergency services will be notified of the road closures.
- Traffic Management Plans have been developed and are being reviewed by relevant areas of Council.
The map below shows the road closure and the temporary relocation of Bus routes including 804 and 820 for the duration of the works. Or you can download a copy of the plan from the document library.
