Cumberland City Council, in partnership with Western Sydney University will be undertaking a research study at Memorial Park, Merrylands. The ‘UV Smart, Cool Playgrounds’ study aims to understand the impact of sun and heat at children’s playgrounds.
As part of the study, there were playground improvement works commencing in August 2020 at Memorial Park, Treves Street, Merrylands. The improvement works were by late October 2020.
The works included:
- Replacement of the existing softfall surface
- Installation of a new shade sail
- Installation of a new drinking fountain
- Tree plantings
Now the upgrades are complete, the research study will be undertaken in partnership with Western Sydney University.
