Council celebrates the 2024-25 Local Heritage Award Winners!
July 2024 update:
On 13 June 2024, Council held an Awards Ceremony to celebrate our award recipients and highlight our commitment to preserving Cumberland’s heritage.
The winners of the 2024-25 Cumberland Local Heritage Awards were:
Category 1
Category 1 showcases the Best Maintained Heritage Property.
- Nicole Baker for the property at 15 Bayfield Road, Greystanes
Category 3
Category 3 celebrates those passionate residents Researching Our Local History.
Junior Division
- Winner – Sai Sraddha Shailesh for Rookwood Cemetery - Where History Rests and Stories Rise
- Runner Up – Sai Sravan Shailesh for Timeline of St Enda's Church Hall
Open Division
- Winner – Goran Terzic for Sherwood Scrubs - A Roof Tile-Themed Adventure
Category 4
Cateogry 4 encourages children to learn about and engage with our local area through the Keeper of the Stone Children’s Heritage Award colouring competition.
Division One
- Winner – Ayana Vijaywargi
- Runner Up – Lakshanaa Ajith
Division Two
- Winner – Aria Roberts
- Runner Up – Salman Shawash
Overall
- Keeper of the Stone Winner – Ayana Vijaywargi

April 2024 update:
Submissions for the Cumberland Local Heritage Awards 2024 have closed and are now being reviewed. Thank you to everyone who entered.
March 2024 competition:
Cumberland City Council was seeking nominations for the Cumberland Local Heritage Awards Program 2024-25. The Cumberland Local Heritage Awards Program 2024-25 demonstrates Council’s appreciation for those who have an active role in preserving and maintaining Cumberland City’s heritage or an interest in learning about local history.
The theme this year is “Connection – To celebrate the rich and diverse stories of Cumberland", which celebrates all aspects of our heritage, including buildings, landscapes, sacred sites, artefacts and artworks, film, stories, people, groups, and ceremonies.
There are four (4) categories open for nominations, these are:
- Category 1 – Best Maintained Heritage Property.
- Category 2 – Best Restoration & Development (including adaptive re-use).
- Category 3 – ‘HistoResearch’ competition, which celebrates those passionate high school students and residents that research our local history (entries may be provided in written or visual forms).
- Category 4 – ‘Keeper of the Stone’ Children’s Colouring Competition, encourages children to learn about and engage with heritage in our local area.
