September 2022 competition:

Cumberland City is rich in Biodiversity and we are committed to upholding our vision of a Clean and Green environment. In honour of Biodiversity Month, Cumberland City Council is holding a photo competition. It is easy to enter this competition - just take and submit a photo to Council that you think represents Biodiversity in Cumberland!

We want to see your photos. There are three categories you can choose from: 

  • native plants
  • native animals and birds
  • our local ecosystems

All submissions must be of a native plant, animal or ecosystem (or all three) and the photograph must be taken within the Cumberland LGA.

There will be three winners, one from each category. Each winner will receieve a $100 Westfields voucher.

  • people who live in Cumberland
  • people who work in Cumberland
  • people who study in Cumberland

How to enter:

Entry is a three-step process:

  1. Read the entry conditions before submitting.
  2. Complete the online entry form below.
  3. Upload your submission on Council’s ‘have your say page’.

Submission information

Guidelines for entry:

  • Entry is open to participants in Cumberland City Council's Biodiversity Photo Competition 2022. 
  • The submission consists of a photo of showcasing biodiversity in the Cumberland area.
  • Entrants may submit a maximum of one photograph to be judged by the panel.
  • A maximum of one entry per household.
  • Submissions must be original and photographed by the entrant.
  • All valid entries will go through a check process. If your entry is deemed inappropriate, your entry will be disqualified from the competition.
  • Submissions must be submitted via the online entry form on Council’s ‘have your say page’.

Requirements for Photography submissions:

  • Artists are required to upload a digital image of their artwork in JPEG format.
  • If your artwork contains people who can be identified, you will need to submit a photography and video consent form (available in the Document Library) for each person.
  • If the person is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian is required to sign the photography and video consent form on their behalf.

Judging

  • Judging will be conducted between 26 September - 30 September inclusive.
  • The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Competition starts on 5 September 2022 and closes on 25 September 2022.

Winners

  • The judging panel will select the winners at the conclusion of the competition period.
  • The winners will be announced in early October.
  • Winners will be contacted via phone and/or email and will be announced on Council’s website and social media accounts.
  • Winners will receive their prizes in late October.
