Thank you to everyone who participated in our post upgrade survey.
In early 2020, Cumberland City Council consulted the local community to find out how Civic Park is being utilised and the general community aspirations for the location to inform preparation of a Draft Landscape Masterplan.
Based on the feedback received, Council has drafted a concept plan that details the revitalisation of the Park and the adjacent Pendle Creek wetland area.
The tender for the RFx-247 Civic Park & Pendle Creek Wetland Improvement Project was advertised on Thursday 29/09/22.
Based on the feedback received, Council drafted a concept plan that details the revitalisation of the Park and the adjacent Pendle Creek wetland area. The concept design intends to upgrade and rationalise the park with spaces and uses for passive recreation, play and social gathering, and to revitalise the creek area providing overall enhanced public open space. The concept design incorporated feedback received during the initial consultations earlier in 2020. The design leverages the natural features of the park and waterway to provide respite from the urban surrounds.
Civic Park Upgrade Project was officially reopened to the community following a major transformation.
The official event included a special plaque unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony, where residents, community members and visitors explored and enjoyed the park's exciting new features. From a new inclusive and accessible nature play space to outdoor fitness zone and table tennis, picnic areas, a half-court basketball court, new amenities and more.
As part of the Civic Park Project, the Pendle Creek wetlands were also upgraded to include new pedestrian bridges and improved connections through the carpark to the Pendle Hill Town Centre, new gabion walls, island planting and litter collection rack.
Due to the unforeseen circumstances works to complete the Civic Park & Pendle Hill Wetland Improvement Project will be delayed and are expected to be completed by early May 2024, weather permitting.
