Central Park Botanica - New Exeloo Toilet

FAQS

This project has been identified as part of Council’s capital works program. Amenities within a passive park area enable visitors and families to enjoy the park and align to the NSW Government Everyone Can Play principle of Can I Stay? The amenities will provide equal access for park users of a wide range of ages, abilities and will include additional features such as fold-out baby change tables.

Council is receiving feedback from the community on the proposal through Council’s Have Your Say website from Tuesday February 7 to Tuesday 7 March 2023.

The toilets are designed to meet Australian Standards for wheelchair accessibility.

The use of the toilets will be restricted to daytime use only via remotely controlled timed locks.

The placement and design will be in line with Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles. The toilets also have inbuilt safety features such as timed occupancy (up to 10 minutes), fully integrated features and hard-wearing materials which are less susceptible to vandalism. For more information on CPTED, please visit the CPTED website

All toilets are cleaned daily by Council's public toilet cleaning contractors and all consumables topped up. The toilet module also contains integrated self-cleaning features which spray down the internal surfaces several times a day.

Council will work with the community to provide placemaking treatments such as murals on the toilet module or paths in the park, landscape planting and other supporting improvements. There are many good examples of well-integrated modules in neighbourhood parks across Sydney and Australia. For examples, please visit the Exeloo website
