Nominations Open for the Local Heritage Committees and Heritage Networking Event

The Cumberland Heritage Committee was established in early 2018 to assist in developing programs and events for heritage, encourage restoration and maintenance of heritage properties, and promote the value of heritage among the wider community.

Council is currently seeking expressions of interest for local heritage committees, for the western, central, and eastern areas of our LGA (Holroyd, Granville and Auburn areas and surroundings).

The draft Terms of Reference for each of the three local heritage committees provides an overview of the responsibilities of the committee as well as how it will operate.

Nominations

Nominations are being sought for members of these three (3) local heritage committees. Nominees are to be residents of, or those with interests (such as a business) in, the Cumberland LGA.

Networking Event

A networking event is also being held on Thursday, 28 June 2018 where members of the Cumberland Heritage Committee, historical societies, and the general community will be invited. Terms

Nominations for membership of Local Heritage Committee will be considered with respect to the nominee's ability to meet the draft Terms of Reference of the respective Heritage Committee. A copy of the draft Terms of Reference is available from the Council website and the Council administration buildings. The membership term for Community Representatives is two (2) years and meetings are held quarterly or as required. Please note that nominations for membership of a Local Heritage Committee are not guaranteed to be successful. The Committee will only be established if sufficient numbers of nominations are received.
