Council's Revised Property Policy

Consultation has concluded

In August this year, the Draft Property Policy was placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. Submissions received from the community and feedback from Councillors on the Draft Property Policy were considered and incorporated in the revised Policy.

The policy provides the framework for Council to review its existing property portfolio and plan for its future direction. It establishes a consistent approach to the use and management of Council’s property assets in accordance with the Legislative Framework. It also supports Council’s Community Strategic Plan by identifying how Council’s property assets will be managed by Council to deliver the best possible outcomes to the community in alignment with Council’s Community Strategic Plan and Long Term Financial Plan.

Changes incorporated into the revised Policy as a result of the feedback received include:

  • Additional information on restrictions on dealing with Community Land, which includes the following requirements: Land cannot be sold; Land cannot be leased, licenced or any other estate granted for more than 30 years; and must have a plan of management prepared for it.
  • Additional information on Council’s processes for dealing with property acquisitions and disposals, including how Council will deal with unsolicited proposals with reference to the NSW Government Unsolicited Proposals Guide for Submission and Assessment (August 2017).
