Establishment of Alcohol-Free Zones

Cumberland Council proposes to establish Alcohol-Free Zones pursuant to Section 644A of the Local Government Act 1993 in the areas as listed below.

Public Notice is therefore given of the proposal for the Alcohol-Free Zones which will be established for a period of four years from the commencement date and which will operate 24 hours each day.

Representations or objections are invited from any person or group in relation to the proposed Alcohol-Free Zones.

Submissions must be received by Council by no later than 4pm, 7 May 2019.

Enquiries may be made, or a copy of the proposal may be inspected by calling at the Council’s Customer Service Centres and libraries during office hours.

Areas – Public Streets proposed to be designated as Alcohol-Free Zones.

The following Alcohol-Free Zones within Greystanes, Guildford, Merrylands, Pendle Hill, South Wentworthville, Girraween, Toongabbie, Wentworthville and Westmead Town Centre are due for renewal on 13 June 2019.

Renew of the establishment of Alcohol-Free Zones is proposed in the public road, Car Parking areas and adjacent footpaths for the areas listed below.

Two additional zones are proposed for Greystanes - Sportsground Car Park and Daniel Street Park Car Park.

Greystanes

Zone 24: Nemesia Street Park Car Parks, Greystanes

Zone 25: Darling Street Park Car Park, Greystanes (new area)

Zone 26: Bathurst Street Shopping Centre and Car Park,

Zone 27: Greystanes Shopping Centre, Greystanes

Zone 28: Hyland Road, Greystanes between 2 and 7 Hyland Road, 100 metres east and south of the West Cumberland Men’s Shed.

New Zone 29: Greystanes Sportsground Car Park (new area)

Guildford

New Zone 30: Daniel Street Park Car Park, Guildford

Zone 31: McCredie Park Car Pak, Guildford

Merrylands

Zone 32: Merrylands Oval Car Parks, Merrylands

Zone 33: Hilltop Road, Merrylands between Clarence Street and the western boundary of 13 Hilltop Road (northern side); Hilltop Road between Clarence Street and the western boundary of 12 Hilltop Road (southern side)

Pendle Hill

Zone 34: Civic Avenue, Pendle Hill between Pendle Way and Billabong Street including the Civic Park Car Park (at the western end of Civic Avenue); Pendle Way, Pendle Hill between Stapleton Street and Joyce Street; Pendle Way between Gilba Road and Joyce Street; Joyce Street between Pendle Way and Purdie Lane; Purdie Lane between Stapleton Street and Joyce Street incorporating the adjacent carpark.

South Wentworthville

Zone 35: Ted Burge Sportsground Car Park and street frontage surrounds, South Wentworthville

Girraween

Zone 36: CV Kelly Park Car Park, Girraween

Toongabbie

Zone 37: Toongabbie Town Centre.

Wentworthville

Zone 38: Wentworthville Town Centre

Zone 39: Ringrose Park (Monty Bennett Oval) Car Parks, Wentworthville

Westmead

Zone 40: The western side of Hawkesbury Road, Westmead adjacent to the frontage of the Oakes Shopping Centre (74 Hawkesbury Road) between Nolan Crescent and Church Avenue and the laneway behind.
