Compliance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)

Council is reviewing its procedures for the supply of goods and services in line with changes to the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) which came into effect on 1 October 2018.

In the course of providing goods and services to Cumberland Council you and your company may become a party to the chain of responsibility and potentially liable for breaches of the HVNL even if those breaches are committed by your subcontractors or others in the supply chain.

Cumberland Council requires you and your subcontractors to ensure that you comply fully with all applicable laws including the HVNL.

You are required to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of your transport activities and eliminate public risks associated.

Please note that if you are not able to perform an obligation to the Council without a breach of the HVNL occurring you must notify the Council immediately and must not breach, or permit a breach, of the HVNL or any other law.
